One of the ways that Power For Life Fitness is able to bring different events to your apartment community is through working with partner companies who share our goal of promoting overall health and wellness. Today we are shouting out one of those partners: Go*Stretch, an assisted stretching business based in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
What is assisted stretching? During a session, you work with a certified flexologist to identify your goals, challenges, injuries or anything else you hope to address, and then you work on those areas through targeted stretches. When most people think of stretching, they think of a quick forward fold, quad stretch or shoulder stretch at the end of a run or a group fitness class. But in a one-on-one assisted stretching session, stretching is taken much further. Instead of just as a tool for warm up or cool down, it is used as a tool for recovery and strength building. Assisted stretching also means that you are going to be able to complete stretches that you can’t on your own or may not have thought that you were capable of, when in fact those may be the ones you need the most. They are also likely going to hold you in stretches for longer than you would on your own, which is truly when you will start to reap the benefits.
So just what are those benefits? As mentioned above, stretching is much more than a way to warm up before a run. While it can prime your muscles for activity, the way it keeps them loose and flexible also has other perks. Flexibility means increased mobility with age, which will result in less joint and muscle pain over time. Maintaining flexibility also drastically lowers your risk for injury, since loose, supple muscles are going to be able to respond better and faster to a wider range of movement. Finally, many people spend the majority of their day sitting at a desk, which can cause soreness and alignment issues. Stretching, especially targeted assisted stretching, can help counteract these problems.
Go*Stretch is available for on-site events at your property. They also offer a variety of packages for individuals in their office in Upper Marlboro, MD. For more information, contact Power For Life Fitness at firstname.lastname@example.org today.
