Bringing a company like Power for Life Fitness into an apartment community to provide fitness and wellness services, as opposed to just opening a fitness center or offering fitness on demand, can improve new resident acquisition and boost current resident retention on paper. But do the residents of Power for Life Fitness communities see and appreciate the benefits? We asked some of the residents who utilize our services how they feel about the fact that we are in their buildings and how it has impacted their decisions on where to live and their satisfaction with their community.

“The fact that this building offered resources that promote healthy living did play a role in my decision to move here,” says one resident. “I liked the idea of having events, resources and other things that would promote healthy living in different areas and would provide access in a way that is convenient for residents. I also think it’s important to have a way to get to know your neighbors and I knew that the overall concept of healthy living would include that. More importantly, if I can get home from work and only have to go down the hall to take a Zumba class, I’m more likely to do those things during the week!”

“I like have the group fitness classes for accountability. I’ve lived in buildings with gyms since I was around 7 or 8 years old and I’m an expert in convincing myself not to go,” laughs another resident, who cites three main reasons having Power for Life Fitness in her building has helped her pursue a healthier lifestyle. “I’m much more likely to regularly attend a class, even if I’m tired or running late, if I know there is an instructor or other class members who are expecting to see me there,” she says. “I also don’t know what to do with myself in the gym, so it’s helpful to have someone (who knows what they’re doing) telling me what to do. And finally, it’s a good opportunity for personal connections. It’s a great way to meet other people in the building (because otherwise I pretty much go to my apartment and stay there). Plus, we get to connect with the instructor too!”
